◆Introduction:
Gas under the brand name Noah®5112 (FK 5-1-12) is a fire prevention and protection gas of the structural formula CF3CF2C(O)CF(CF3)2. This gas suppresses a fire by inhibiting the chemical reaction of the combustible material and oxygen. It is used as a safe and efficient agent to extinguish Class A fires (solid materials), Class B fires (flammable liquids) and Higher Hazard Class A fires (solid materials energized during the extinguishment period).
FK-5-1-12 fire prevention and protection agent is a novel substitution of halon extinguishing agent. It helps engineers and facility managers meet environmental regulations while helping ensure the safety of people, reduce risks and preserve business operations with minimal downtime. It features zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and a global warming potential (GWP) of less than 1. FK-5-1-12 also has the largest safety margin for use in occupied spaces of all clean agents. It effectively extinguishes fire faster than inert gas or water mist systems, requires less volume of fluid and is safe for use with electronics.

◆What is the difference between HFC-227ea and Noah®5112?
Noah®5112 and HFC-227ea are different chemical compounds. Noah®5112 is a fluoroketone, while HFC-227ea is a heptafluoropropane (HFC). Both Noah®5112 and HFC-227ea are clean agents, and they share similar properties. However, Noah®5112 is widely regarded as more environmentally friendly than HFC-227ea, because it has a lower Global Warming Potential (GWP). Additionally, Noah®5112 is stored as a liquid, while HFC-227ea is stored as a gas.
Both Noah®5112 and HFC-227ea discharge as gases, when a fire suppression system activates. Noah®5112 and HFC-227ea are both effective at suppressing class A, B, and C fires, and they are both safe to use in occupied spaces.
